Katie and Matt

June 29, 2013

DSC_6752They met in Harvard Square during the winter of 2009. Shortly after, Matt won a snow board in a raffle. “Jimmy the snowboard has since become a fixture in our home,” Katie told us.

Jimmy was front and center at the wedding so everyone could sign the snowboard to help celebrate and commemorate their beginning!

The Proposal …in her words

“Matt proposed to me exactly three years after the night we met. It caught me off guard, because it was a Monday night! I had been working with a client all day in busy season and I came home to roses and a delicious dinner and cupcakes he had made. He put the ring in a heart box that my little sisters had given me when I went off to college. The box had filled with their most special possessions so I could take them with me to college (they were 10 years old at the time). Matt wanted to add something from him to my heart box!”

Family and friends gathered from Vermont and four other states to share in the joy as Katie and Matt exchanged their vows in St Josephs Church in Chester, Vermont.  At the church they had Kathy Luvader with a string quartet and vocals were by Karen Burgess.

The reception was held at the Stratton Mountain Club at Stratton Resort. The exclusive location sports dramatic 30 foot ceilings and bespoke chandeliers which illuminated and warmed the room. The elegant space and sweeping mountain views were the perfect balance of mountain romance and resort glamor.

Scott and Sandy Switzer, owners of Video Unlimited were the photographers and the videographer for Katie and Matt’s wedding. Katie shared with us that she had known Scott since she was a little girl taking dance lessons from Miss Jackie’s Dance Studio in Rutland. Scott had been shooting Miss Jackie’s recitals for many years, “this was an easy choice for us,” Katie said.

DSC_6901The beautiful and delicious cake was prepared by Cakes by Irene. “It was vanilla sour cream with fillings of Earl Gray and lemon raspberry, and it was amazing, Katie shared”!

Peggy from Lily of the Valley Florist designed wildflower centerpieces and bouquets that were exactly what Katie pictured!

Katie got her gorgeous dress at Alfred Angelo in Peabody, MA. When it came to the girls dresses she wanted them all to love their dresses too,  so Katie picked the color, a beautiful  soft iris blue and asked the girls to all pick out their own dress in that color! All six girls picked a different very flattering and comfortable style and they all looked great!  The girls all got their hair done by American Hair Lines and were very pleased! The tuxedos came from Men’s Wearhouse in MA.

Katie and Matt chose Peak Entertainment for the DJ and were very pleased with job they did!

Their rehearsal dinner was at the Fullerton Inn and Katie told us that they did such a great job!

Katie and Matt’s honeymoon was to the islands of Kauai and the Big Island in Hawaii. “It was so wonderful, we went on amazing hikes on the cliffs of Kauai and across old lava fields at Volcano National Park on the Big Island, we went ziplining, and we got to take a tour to the top of Mauna Kea (14,000′ up!) to see the sunset and stargazing” Katie shared.

DSC_6764Katie and Matt reside happily in Boston but love to get home to Vermont as often as possible to visit family and friends.  Matt is an architect with The Architectural Team in Chelsea, MA, and Katie is a tax accountant and works at the Big 4 public accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers in Boston.
